About Blueair
Blueair was founded in the 1990s in Sweden by Bengt Rittri to design the best possible air purifier. Rittri believed that breathing clean air was a fundamental human right, so he brought together a team of filtration experts and top designers who also believed in the importance of clean air, sustainability, quality, and design.
Blueair has headquarters in Stockholm and Chicago, and its products are available in more than 60 countries. It’s one of the top air purifier brands in the United States and is now part of the Unilever brand of products.
Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus Air Purifier Review
The Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus works on a three-particle filtration system. The washable, reusable fabric pre-filter catches large particles and helps extend the life of the unit’s primary filter. The pre-filter can be vacuumed and be washed on a gentle cycle when it needs extra cleaning. Regular, routine cleaning of the filter helps to ensure optimum performance. You can also choose the color of the fabric to help match your room décor.
The combination Particle + Carbon Filter uses activated carbon to pull odors from pets, cooking, or smoke out of the air. It doesn’t use a true HEPA filter, but the primary particle filter still removes up to 99 percent of dust, pet dander, pollen, mold, and other irritants floating around in the air.
Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus doesn’t have an air quality sensor; however, it automatically adjusts to a higher speed when a higher level of contaminants is detected. It is energy efficient and will not reflect a significant increase – if any -in your electric bill, even if you run it 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our Verdict
The Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus is moderately expensive but worth the investment. Designed for use in large rooms, it is probably best suited for your living room area. It may also be helpful near the kitchen since it also helps pull odors out of the air.
It works well, and even though it doesn’t use a true HEPA filter, it still pulls 99 percent of airborne irritants out of the air and filters at a high rate. Its relatively small size makes it easy to place in any room. But keep in mind – it has a 360-degree air intake, so for it to work correctly, you likely won’t be able to put the unit flush against a wall.
The unit has been independently reviewed and recommended by Consumer Reports – another indication the Blueair Blue Pure 211 is a quality product.
Quality
Blueair prioritizes sustainability with products made of high-quality materials and components. All of the Blue Pure 211 parts, including the filter, are recyclable. It is built to last and will hold up well, even if you keep it running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Cost
The Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus costs right around 300-hundred dollars and includes free shipping. The company recommends only using Blueair filters, which are costly. They should be replaced every six months and can run as much as 70 dollars apiece. Blueair does have a filter replacement subscription where you can receive a new filter every three, six, or nine months at a discounted price.
Customer Service and Reviews
The product comes with a one-year warranty, but if you register your new air purifier within 60 days of purchase, Blueair will extend the warranty to two years.
The Blueair website has a reasonably thorough Customer Support page, broken up into categories to help you get answers or help quicker. There’s also a chat feature to provide you with instant feedback. The website has video tutorials on each of its models and downloadable owner’s manuals if you misplace yours. You can contact Blueair with questions by phone or through the website contact form.
Overall, most reviews show customers are pleased with this model. But you will find several customer-specific, negative complaints on the Better Business Bureau’s website. Most of them have to do with incorrect charges for replacement filters or delays in receiving products. But each complaint has a quick response and resolution from the company.

Summary
The Blueair Blue Pure 211 Plus is a reliable, easy-to-use air purifier. Its three-filter system helps purify the air in your home quickly and efficiently. At around 300 dollars, it is more expensive than other brands, but the lasting quality and sustainability features make it worth the price.
The unit is a no-frills air purifier, and it’s a great choice if you’re looking for an option that doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles. It’s highly effective at pulling out most contaminants in your air and many common home odors.
I bought the Blueair 211 + Auto direct from Blueair. The product worked great for 1 year and 3 weeks. Then it just quit entirely. I guess I missed the 2 year warranty card, so the warranty expired on 04/06/2022. It is now a very low table. I guess will put magazines on it and maybe spill some coffee down its innards or maybe use it for target practice with my 12 gauge shotgun loaded with double O buckshot, because its nothing but a piece of junk now.
