Coway Helps You Stay Protected from Allergies, Viruses, and Smoke
You or a loved one may be one of the more than 50 million Americans who suffer from allergies each year. Suffice it to say, you may have likely experienced some of the typical allergy symptoms like sneezing, coughing, itchy and watery eyes, and sinus inflammation. While some may experience mild allergy symptoms, others can have a severe reaction such as asthma attacks, hives, rashes, and more. Luckily, these air purifiers’ design to remove these harmful particles from the air can alleviate allergy symptoms.
What’s more, you are more vulnerable to catching a common cold or flu if you already suffer from an allergy to dust, for example, and other airborne allergens. This is where an air purifier with a HEPA filter excel. HEPA filters expertly remove viruses, including the coronavirus and the flu, that spread through the air with similar airborne particle and droplet sizes. Air purifiers eliminate harmful bacteria, germs, and pollutants from the air that can quickly enter your respiratory system and lead to serious health issues.
Coway‘s True HEPA filter capture and eliminate up to 99.97 percent of airborne pollutants as small as 0.3 microns. This includes pollen, mold spores, dust mites, pet dander, and more allergens. Coway’s air purifiers are also beneficial to those who live nearby wildfire areas or simply smoke and want to maintain the air quality in their smoking room. Every Coway Airmega unit features an Advanced Max2 dual HEPA carbon filter, which expertly cleans your space four times every hour. This filter also offers protection against allergies triggered by tobacco, odors, chemicals, and gases.
Placement For Your Coway Air Purifier
Since air purifiers are designed for use in one room only, it can be challenging to decide where to place them. It is, however, easier to choose the right place when you know where air purifiers shouldn’t go. For example, air purifiers cannot properly do their job in a corner, behind the television, and in other places that prevent it from effectively purifying your air.
So, where should you place your new air purifier? According to LearnMetrics, your air purifier should be in places with the highest airflow. This includes doorways, walls, near windows, and more. Most importantly, your air purifier should be in the room where harmful airborne pollutants are the highest. For example, put it in the kitchen if you smell a constant odor from all cooking you do. If you have pet odor and pet dander in your living room from your furry friend, house it there. Or, perhaps, there’s mold growing in your bathroom from all of the excess moisture and humidity.
If you still can’t decide just yet, don’t be alarmed. All room sizes-small, medium, and large — can benefit from cleaner air if the unit is the right size for the specific room’s coverage area. For example, the Coway Airmega 400 air purifier is best for extra-large rooms — including bedrooms and livings rooms — up to 1,560 square feet.
Regardless of the Coway air purifier you go with, you can be confident it will maintain and create a healthy living environment for you and your loved ones. Their HEPA filtration system captures 99.97 percent of airborne allergies. They have a wide range of filter options and affordable air purifiers for whatever you want to improve, from dust to smoke.
Coway Customer Reviews:
“We’ve owned the Airmega 400 for about two months. It sits in a room next to the kitchen and backyard sliding door. When strong kitchen odors are present, the Airmega turns into high gear automatically, and the light changes to red. I was opening a delivery package that was filthy and dusty about 10 feet away from the Airmega, and again it sensed the flying dust and kicked into high gear. Most of the time, it runs on the lowest setting and is super quiet. Very Quiet! We’ve noticed fewer dust and animal odors overall. Super easy to operate. It just operates itself, and it will let you know when to wash the large washable particle filter. So far, the HEPA is functioning at 100 percent efficiency. We love it!”

As for the air purifying itself, no complaints, it works great…
“Let’s start with the bad: setup isn’t enjoyable. The IOCare app is buggy, and you’re going to have to run through it multiple times before you get it working. You’re also going to need a 2.4Ghz WiFi network set up in your home (the device doesn’t support 5Ghz). P.S. Don’t sign into IOCare with Google, instead use your email and create a password. Now, onto the smart: when it works, it’s pretty great. Seriously, I didn’t expect the smart features to be any more than a gimmick, but they’re pretty cool. You can turn it on or off for starters and change the fan speed using Google Assistant or Alexa. It works surprisingly well, and the commands are super simple. My favorite smart feature is the alerts: the IOCare app will send you to push notifications for poor air quality when the Coway detects a high particulate count. I often get these alerts when I’m cooking on the stovetop downstairs, and there’s smoke, so it works. As for the air purifying itself, no complaints, it works great, about the 5500-2 which I also own. It’s super quiet on its automatic setting. And it’s more stylish than the Winix, so it’s less likely to stick out among your decor. Sadly, it doesn’t have an automatic Sleep Mode when it gets dark like the Winix (a feature I like), but it does have a button to turn off the light, so it is not obtrusive in the dark (I keep it in my bedroom and it is barely noticeable). All in all, a worthwhile successor to the H.H. and worth the extra ~$50 assuming you get it set up correctly.”

The product does not work.
“The product does not work. I purchased a Coway Airmega and another Coway product. They arrived, and I opened the boxes on Saturday. The smaller unit works fine; however, I could not get the larger unit to work. My daughter came over the next day and tried to get the Airmega 400 to work, and she was unsuccessful. In the literature, we noted that the company was closed on weekends. I called Monday and was advised to make a video of what happens when I plug the unit in. My daughter assisted me, and I submitted the video on 12/21/2020. [A Customer service representative] wrote in an email it looks like the unit will need replacement. I wrote the company requesting a refund or replacement of the product. I received the following statement in a reply email: “The management team has your case; they are working according to the order received.” [One week later] I called the company again and spoke to Teddy. I told him I have not heard from the company and I want a replacement or a refund. He told me the management team is working on it. I asked to speak to someone in authority; he said there was no one there. At this point, I want a full refund for the unit that is not working.”

What makes this one stand out is the easy-to-clean dust pre-filter and Charcoal secondary filter.
“Many of the good quality filters are similar in many ways. What makes this one stand out is the easy-to-clean dust pre-filter and Charcoal secondary filter. The dust pre-filter is a fine screen-like material. The “Filter” light will come on when it starts to get blocked. A quick rinse with the garden hose and bam, done. Dry it off, reinstall it, and press the “reset filter” button – DONE. The charcoal filter is a honeycomb filled with high-quality activated charcoal pellets. This means it will last a long time removing smells (etc.). The automatic air quality sensing system is somewhat over-active on this unit. If left on automatic, I find it goes into HIGH at the drop of a hat. I leave it set to one of the manual speed settings.”
