Our Experience Testing the PureZone™ Mini Portable Air Purifier

To test the PureZone Mini, we ran it in a room that was approximately 200 sq ft with an existing Air Quality Index (AQI) of 179. We burned incense in the room for about 10 minutes and measured the change in the air quality with an air quality monitor (AQM) before using the product. We then began running the air purifier and took measurements of the AQI after 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and finally 3 hours. We also listened to its noise output and monitored how it adapted to the space to help us determine its overall product performance. 

Initial Performance Testing

After running the PureZone Mini for only 30 minutes, the AQI dropped from 179 to 150. After 1 hour, the AQI dropped to 118, and after 2 hours it was down to 68. When we checked the AQI after two hours, it was at 28. These measurements indicate that the air purifier was likely still working to clean the air even after 3 hours. Since it is a much smaller air purifier than other models, it takes longer to effectively clean the air, but it is still working consistently. Based on our tests, it will likely clean the air in the entire room within the 4 hour mark. Compared to air purifiers such as the Leviot Core Mini that can get the air quality down to normal in typically 2 hours or less, you should consider what best fits your needs. So to recap,it should work well in a smaller, confined space, but it’s less efficient for a large space.

Noise

In testing the PureZone Mini, we wanted to assess its noise quality features, especially if planning to use it in public spaces such as a car or plane. On the low setting, we recorded 33.2 decibels (dB) while running, which was very quiet and blended into the background noise easily. However, this low noise meant too low of a fan speed to really make a difference in cleaning the air. On the medium setting, the noise level increased to 41.9 dB, which while noticeable it wasn’t distracting, and the pitch was higher which may have made it easier to tolerate and tune out. On its highest speed, we recorded 50.8 dB, which was similar to the noise of a small personal fan. This made it a bit loud, but it also came with a powerful fan setting so it is up to your personal preference if you can tolerate that. Overall, we recommend running it on the medium setting to get both optimal performance and noise management. Low might not be effective enough, and while high is a fine option it is a bit noisy.

Fan Speed on PureZone™ Mini Portable Air Purifier

We also measured the fan speed at each setting to help determine the CFM, which is how much air the purifier is able to move and circulate in cubic feet per minute. This essentially translates to overall the efficiency of the air purifier.

On the lowest setting we registered the PureZone™ Mini fan speed at 19.7 ft/min. For context, a typical small space heater fan moves air at about 256 ft/min. So the low setting is well under this standard and would need to run for a while on this setting to be able to function effectively.

On the medium setting the PureZone™ Mini fan speed registered 78.8 ft/min. This shows that on the medium setting the Mini Portable’s fan is moving a decent amount of air but over at a slower pace than larger models. However, considering this was the most tolerable noise level, then this is likely the best setting for most people traveling with it or using it in a confined space for longer periods of time.

On the highest speed (high fan setting), the PureZone Mini fan speed registered at 177.3 ft/min. This is fairly powerful for such a small device and shouldn’t be discredited if you don’t mind the noise. While probably best for use in a car, travel van, camping area, confined desk space, and more, it can do its job as needed.
