Honeywell is a long-standing brand committed to building high-performing home air quality products. In addition to air purifiers, Honeywell sells fans, heaters and humidifiers. The air purifiers have basic designs, cover a wide range of square footage and are priced to meet any budget.
Some of Honeywell’s units are equipped with smart features, like Bluetooth, air quality indicators and washable pre-filters to capture larger particles and extend the life of the main HEPA filter. Most Honeywell air purifiers are equipped with true HEPA filtration, but some come with a permanent ifD filtration system. Some units are designed to sit on top of a desk and work as a personal air purifier, while others are designed to take care of large open living room floor plans. The Honeywell HPA5300b is a good option to clean and purify up to 1000 square feet twice an hour.

Honeywell Air Purifier Products
Honeywell offers a full line of air purifier products which range in price from 75 to 500 dollars. Their products have three, four or five stages of filtration and are all equipped with true HEPA filters to capture up to 99.97 percent of airborne contaminants.
Honeywell air purifiers are well-made and can cover a wide range of areas in your home. If you’re looking for an air purifier to cover a smaller space, we recommend the Air Genius HFD-320. It’s tower design has five levels of filtration and covers 250 square feet at least four times an hour. It comes with two washable filters, is Energy Star rated and costs just over 200 dollars. For a larger space, we recommend the Honeywell HPA5300b. It’s priced at 335 dollars and will cover 1000 square feet twice an hour. It has four cleaning levels and works with HEPA filtration and activated carbon to remove smoke and odors.
About Honeywell Air Purifiers
Honeywell considers its official beginning to be in 1885 when inventor Albert Butz developed and patented a furnace regulator. Since then, many acquisitions and mergers have happened, along with a large variety of product development that cover everything from aerospace to safety and protective gear to healthcare and pharmaceuticals. The company is currently headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina and makes air purifiers as part of its home air quality product line.
Honeywell believes innovation is its legacy and its future. And over the years, they have continued to build upon their brand and design and develop successful and performance driven units.
What’s New in Innovation from Honeywell
Most companies want to build better products that are more cost efficient. Honeywell is no different. Here is one of the innovative ways Honeywell is improving air purifier technology:
- ifD Technology
- ifD stands for Intense Field Dielectric. It’s a permanent main filter that captures microscopic airborne particles like HEPA, but doesn’t need to be replaced. It only needs to be washed and cleaned every six months or so. It’s a patented technology and, currently, Honeywell is the only brand in the U.S. that produces air purifiers with ifD filters.
Honeywell Air Purifier Quality
Honeywell designs what you might considered a no-frills air purifier. It may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but an air purifier’s purpose is to clean and purify the air, and Honeywell models do that exceptionally well. They are long-lasting, quality machines.
The company has been making and selling air purifiers for a long time and has established themselves as a legacy brand. You will find them for sale in plenty of big box retailers.
Features and Services
Honeywell offers sturdy, no-nonsense air purifiers. They may not offer as many features as some other brands, but the units are always reliable and work well. Some of the units are equipped with a washable pre-filter that will trap large particles, helping to extend the life of the HEPA filter. Some have air quality indicators to let you know the quality of the air inside the room and adjust the fan speed accordingly. A few models are Bluetooth-enabled. And while most of the units are designed to take up floor space, some Honeywell models can sit on desks or table tops.
One nice feature on Honeywell’s website is how they make it easy for you to find the air purifier that fits your needs. Instead of clicking through every one they sell, there’s a menu on the left side of the site that lets you choose the options you are looking for and then it will filter out to only display those air purifiers.
Not all Honeywell air purifiers have Energy Star ratings, but they are all energy efficient. So, using and running them won’t drive up your electric bill. The units are also all AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers) certified for air circulation and particle removal.
Customer Support & Reviews
Honeywell has a fairly thorough FAQ page that will answer many questions about how to work your air purifier, how to register it and how to troubleshoot should you have any problems. You can also contact Honeywell’s customer support team by phone (800-477-0457) or through the contact form on their website. Many companies these days have an online chat feature with real-time feedback, Honeywell does not.
Online reviews are a good way to find out the quality of a product. We read through dozens of customer reviews and found, overall, most customers are pleased with their Honeywell air purifiers. Reviews show customers believe the units are sturdy, reliable and high-performing. You will find complaints for specific models. For example, verified Amazon buyers of the Honeywell HPA300 complain of an odor coming from the machine. Often an odor indicates a filter needs to be replaced.
Honeywell is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and receives a B+ rating from the consumer organization. There are nearly two dozen complaints filed with the BBB but all of them are for other products Honeywell sells. You will find the company has responded to each complaint, apologized and tried to rectify the situation.
Costs for Honeywell Air Purifiers
Honeywell air purifiers range in price, so it’s likely you will find one that fits your specific budget and needs. The units run between 75 and 500 dollars, depending on the make and model you choose. Most of the selection, though, falls between 100 and 300 dollars. Honeywell has around 30 models to choose from with different levels of filtration, features and room coverage.
Filter Replacement Costs
Honeywell replacement filters cost between 17 and 130 dollars, depending on the make and model of your unit. The air purifiers are all equipped with indicators to let you know when it’s time to change the filter. A dirty filter will keep the air inside your home from being as clean as possible, so it’s important to the change the filter on time.
All Honeywell air purifiers come with a five-year limited warranty. In order for the warranty to be in effect, you will have to register your product with Honeywell. You will need to provide the model number, a contact email address and the date you bought the unit to Honeywell during the claim process.
The warranty covers repairs and replacements for manufacturing defects. The warranty will not cover your product if any of the following apply:
- Installing or using the air purifier improperly
- Damage or negligence by the customer
- Improper maintenance, service or cleaning
- Repairs or services done by someone other than Honeywell
- Damage from excessive voltage, static electricity or an electrostatic discharge
Returns and Shipping
You can return your air purifier to Honeywell within 30 days of purchase for any reason. The company will refund or replace it – no questions ask. You just have to contact Honeywell’s Customer Relations department – either by phone or the website’s contact form – to get the process started.
Honeywell ships air purifiers to anywhere in the United States through FedEx and you can expect delivery within five days. Shipping is free if your order is more than 50 dollars. You’ll have to pay $9.95 for anything less than 50 dollars. Once your order is processed, you can check and track the status of it on the company’s website.
Honeywell Helps Protect You from Allergy Triggers and Things That Make You Sick
Honeywell air purifiers may have basic designs but they are highly effective in cleaning and purifying the air in your home. HEPA filtration is the gold standard in air purification and you will find that most Honeywell units are equipped with it. Many have a pre-filter to trap larger particles and extend the life of the main filter. And some come with activated carbon, which will rid your home of smoke and odors.
HEPA filters trap 99.97 percent of airborne pollutants – virtually getting rid of so many microscopic allergy and asthma triggers that you can’t see. Air purifiers will significantly improve the quality of the air inside your home and help keep your respiratory system healthy.
Placement For Your Honeywell Air Purifier
There are a few things to consider before buying an air purifier. You’ll want to figure out what room of your house to put it in. Every air purifier is designed to cover a certain amount of square footage. So, you will need to know the size of your room to ensure you pick a unit that is effective.
The smallest units Honeywell offers cover less than 100 square feet. The larger ones will cover more than 350 square feet. Honeywell sells personal air purifiers you can set on your desk. So, if you are looking to improve the air quality in an office setting, you may want to consider the HEPA Table Top Purifier which covers around 90 square feet. If you have a larger area – you may want to opt for the HPA5300b which will cover 1000 square feet twice an hour.
Some units are designed to be placed on the floor. But they can’t be put behind curtains or furniture. You’ll want to put it in a place that doesn’t seem intrusive, but also gives it the ability to work effectively. The tower units will need enough space for 360-degree filtration, so you won’t be able to place those purifiers right up against a wall.
Honeywell has built a reputation on making products that work effectively. All Honeywell air purifiers have three, four of five stages of filtration. Most work with true HEPA filters, which capture up to 99.97 percent of the pollutants floating around in your home. Some are equipped with ifD filter technology – which works like HEPA but is a permanent filter that doesn’t need to be replaced.
