About Whirlpool

In 1911, Louis Upton and his uncle, Emory Upton, founded the Upton Machine Company in Benton Charter, Michigan. At this time, the family duo patented an electric motor-driven wringer washer and, after acquiring funding, began production of the machine. Upton Machine Company soon received its first significant order of devices but had to stop due to a gear failure in transmitting all of its engines. After going back to the drawing board and fixing the problem, the client doubled its order, and business for the Upton Machine Company took off.

Today, more than a century later, Whirlpool Corporation has grown to become the world’s leading kitchen and laundry appliance company. Whirlpool markets Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Consul, Brastemp, Amana, Bauknecht, JennAir, Indesit, and other prominent brand names in nearly every country throughout the world. Additionally, Whirlpool also mentions Yummly brands on its website.

Whirlpool Corporation has more than 92,000 employees globally and more than 57 manufacturing and technology research centers. The company prides itself on manufacturing products in the United States and has nine manufacturing facilities located throughout the country in Amana, Iowa; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cleveland, Tennessee; Clyde, Ohio; Greenville, Ohio; Marion, Ohio; Ottawa, Ohio, and Fall River, Massachusetts, according to Wikipedia.

Whirlpool credits its success to being noble and adapting to the times as necessary and its passion for innovation, world-class manufacturing, and continually meeting the needs of consumers with effective product solutions.

“We create purposeful technology that helps free up your schedule for what matters,” says the Whirlpool website. “We feel that our products should positively impact your life right now; otherwise, it’s just technology for the sake of technology. Our brands and products help you appreciate today with an eye towards tomorrow.”

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is a significant concern since most people do not want to pay higher energy bills in exchange for cleaner air. Whirlpool Customer Reviews:

Five easy stars!

I have had several air purifiers over the years, and this Whirlpool is the best air purifier of them all that I’ve owned as of this writing. It is quiet and moves lots of air. The filters are large with more surface area per square inch, which allows for more efficient airflow and longer life of filtering time. I have several air quality monitors that I check the air ratings throughout the house, and they prove that this Whirlpool is performing well and some better than the other ones I’ve owned in the past. Possibly better because of the higher volume of airflow capability this model offers. I also find that the built-in automatic air sensors work very well and are very sensitive, making a great feature on this model over my other ones. I like it enough to have already bought a second one, so now I have two. I highly recommend this model even though it is a bit expensive upfront. Still, over the years, this dependable brand and model should pay for itself over the health benefits it will offer to you and your family. Five easy stars.”

Just a glorified box fan with a filter

The noise level isn’t anywhere near advertised; even in sleep mode, it’s pretty noticeable. I was surprised. Anything above that, and you’re turning up TVs and talking louder. As another reviewer mentioned, it’s pretty much just a glorified box fan with a filter. Overpriced and I agree, at this price it should come with a remote. I also agree that buying a box fan and taping (safely) any filter to one side will be just as effective, if not more. At least the box fan would be pulling the air through the back. [I] also think it’s pretty convenient that they removed the filter reset intervals, and now it’s just one light that will tell you when it needs to be replaced. So basically, it could light up prematurely and cost you even more money. It’s also a little bit ridiculous that there aren’t separate settings for each fan speed, as you have to cycle through the fan speeds. If I’m on medium and want to go too low, I have to go through turbo first, thereby increasing wear on the motor unnecessarily.”

Stinky HEPA filters

This filter is marketed as helping allergy sufferers, but it causes more problems than it solves. We have had a Whispure 510 for many years running non-stop in our house, and it has been great. This spring was a bad one for pollen, so we decided that we needed more filtering in the house. Reviews of recently manufactured Whispure 510s say that the quality is hit or miss since the manufacturing moved to China. We almost moved away from Whirlpool and Whispure brand but decided to go with Whirlpool’s top-of-the-line Pro 2000. It arrived quickly as soon as we turned it on, the room filled with a sickening perfume smell. Running it outside didn’t clear the smell out. The smell was coming from the HEPA filter. After removing the HEPA filter, it could be rerun in the house. The Pro 2000 came very close to being sent back, but the HEPA will need to be replaced periodically, so we ultimately decided to buy an aftermarket HEPA filter and toss the one that came with the Pro 2000. We have been running with the aftermarket filter with no issues. Whirlpool needs to investigate why they are shipping stinky HEPA filters.”

Costs for Airpura Air Purifiers

You can expect to pay $100 to $1000 for a good air purifier in the air purifier market, and Whirlpool falls in the lower price range with its products. What’s more, since Whirlpool offers an extensive product line, there’s an air purifier that can fit anyone’s budget. The WPT60 Whispure is Whirlpool’s cheapest option at $115.99. However, if you can spend more money, the WPPRO2000 Whispure is an excellent option and cleans the air in rooms up to 508 square feet.

Additionally, while your initial air purifier will include the proper filter, please keep in mind the filter replacement costs to know how much you will have to spend over time. Moreover, suppose you can not pay your Whirlpool air purifier upfront. In that case, the company does offer simple payment options and multiple ways to purchase, including online or by phone with any major credit card.

Filter Replacement Costs

Each filter in your air purifier may need to be replaced at various times. For example, the WPPRO2000 Whispure’s True HEPA  filter has a one-year life span, while the Charcoal Pre-filter’s life span is three months. You must understand that you may have to replace each filter sooner, depending on your indoor air quality and usage. Whirlpool’s replacement filters cost between $28 and $125 each. No matter the cost, it’s vital that your indoor air remains as clean and healthy as possible.

Warranty

All Whirlpool purifiers come with a five-year warranty. After purchasing your unit, you must register your warranty via Whirlpool’s “Product Registration” page on its website. The warranty form is easy to fill out and should not require help filling it out.

Whirlpool Air Purifier Products

Whirlpool over the last 100+ years in business, has become a well-known brand, providing efficient appliances for millions. Their products come at an affordable price, ranging in small to medium size.

Returns and Shipping

After purchasing your Whirlpool air purifier, you can expect to receive it within four to 10 business days. Whirlpool offers a 30-day return policy that allows you to return any product if you’re not completely satisfied. The purchased product must be from Whirlpool.com to be eligible for return. It’s essential that you also have either your order number or serial number to make the process easier when speaking with a Whirlpool customer service representative. While you can receive a full refund if you return a product within five business days from the date of delivery, any merchandise returned after five days may require a restocking fee. Moreover, Whirlpool will not refund any delivery, shipping, or service fees.

Placement For Your Whirlpool Air Purifier

Since these air purifiers’ design is for single room use, it cannot be easy to find the right spot. However, that task is easier to complete when you know where not to place it. It would help if you did not put it in a corner, behind the couch, and in other places to prevent it from effectively purifying your air. Another example is behind your television, which would block the purifier from effectively doing its job.

Now that you know where not to place your air purifier, where should you put it?  According to LearnMetrics, your air purifier should be in places with the highest airflow. These places include doorways, walls, near windows, and more. Even better, put your air purifier in the room where harmful airborne pollutants are the highest. For example, if you have pet odor and pet dander in your living room from your furry friend, house it there. Maybe your kitchen has a constant smell from all cooking you do since you’re home more often. Or, perhaps, there’s mold growing in your bathroom from all of the excess moisture and humidity.

If you still haven’t decided on the best place yet, don’t worry. All room sizes can benefit from cleaner air if the unit is the right size for the specific room’s coverage area. For example, the Whirlpool WPPRO2000 Whispure air purifier is best for medium-sized rooms — including bedrooms and offices — up to 508 square feet.

Bottom Line

Whirlpool has a nice variety of purifiers to choose from ranging in size and price. Backed by over 100 years in business, their products are surely worth the investment. With their expert knowledge in a variety of appliances, you can be confident they are providing you with an excellent product, at an excellent price.
